Two held for Clarendon murders
published: Tuesday | December 20, 2005

TWO MEN were held by the May Pen police in connection with Sunday's murder of four men in the Juno Crescent area of Clarendon, an officer at the May Pen CIB told The Gleaner yesterday.

According to the officer the man is scheduled to face an identification parade.

The dead men were identified as Ottis Smith, 23, Aaron Chambers, 30, Moses Peart, 30, and 34-year-old Nerrick George. Smith, Chambers and Peart were all of Clarendon addresses but George hailed from Burnt Savannah in St. Elizabeth.

CRIMINAL RECORD

The police said Smith was the only one of the four who had a criminal record. They said he was being sought by police for killing three businessmen in the parish - Maurice Azan and his stepson Lloyd Phang at Mr. Azan's businessplace in May Pen in May, and Randolph Turner, a popular Clarendon businessman who promoted youth shows in the parish.

According to the police, the four were mowed down by gunfire from a group of gunmen as they left a wake for Martin Young, who was murdered in Clarendon in November.

Smith, Chambers, Peart and George were pronounced dead at the May Pen Hospital. Police theorise that the attack was a reprisal for the November 17 murder of Paul 'Beebo' Francis.
