Samplers guzzle Jinjah Sorrel drink
published: Thursday | December 22, 2005

Jinjah Sorrel is zesty and has a dominant ginger taste. - PHOTOS BY RICARDO MAKYN/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER

THERE IS a new addition to the sorrel family. It is Jinjah Sorrel, bottled and distributed by Wisynco Group Limited. The first product of its kind to be marketed with the Jamaican-grown produces ginger, sugar and sorrel. It is available islandwide.

Here at North Street, we put our expert tasters to the test and served up the refreshing drink over ice.

The ginger taste is strong and there is a dash of sorrel.

It tastes like red soda or fruit punch with ginger.

The sorrel taste is very weak.

I like the fizzy quality.

Sorrel is very faint.

Needs a lot more sorrel.

It is sorrel's cousin.

Taste like ginger beer.

Needs more sorrel.

It's not very sweet and that is good.

I like it.

Tastes like ginger soda pop with a little sorrel added.

Tastes like the wine we have for communion.

It is not very sweet.

Don't taste the sorrel but the ginger is strong.

Needs a bit more citric taste so I would add lime.

I don't like sorrel so this is fine. The strong it a punch.
