4H clubs get monetary boost
published: Thursday | December 22, 2005

THE GOVERNMENT of Canada, through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives Jamaica, has contributed about $530,000 to the Jamaica 4H Club, to assist with refurbishing the Home Economics Laboratory at the Denbigh Show grounds in Clarendon.

The contribution was handed over to the 4H Club by His Excellency Claudio Valle, Canada's High Commissioner to Jamaica. The money will go towards refurbishing the existing cupboards, floor, ceiling and plumbing and provide appliances.

The Home Economics Laboratory at Denbigh services the parishes of Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland. The facility is used for training 4H clubbites, schools in the area without home economics facilities, as well as to train young persons with no skills.
