Digicel partners with Jamaica National (JN) in roaming initiative
published: Thursday | December 29, 2005

Digicel prepaid customers have been able to top up their phone credit at designated Jamaica National (JN) Money Transfer Branches in the United Kingdom (UK) or send credit to their friends and family back home from earlier this month.

This new facility which Digicel has introduced in its pre-paid roaming service, makes it more convenient for Jamaicans who travel overseas to stay in touch.

"Customers will therefore be able to purchase $100, $200, $500 and $1000 denominations of airtime at six (6) JN Money Transfer branches in the UK," explains Trevor Wright, recharge manager for Digicel Jamaica. "This makes it easier for Jamaicans vacationing in the UK and for those residing there, to top-up their credit while doing other transactions like sending remittances."

Mr. Wright points out that Digicel plans to expand the new service across all JN Money Transfer branches in the UK.

LOWEST ROAMING RATES

Just last month, Digicel introduced the lowest roaming rates by a telecommunications company in Jamaica. The new rates are as low as US $0.29 cents per minute for post-paid customers travelling to the Caribbean.

Noting that, the low roaming rates in the US are as a result of Digicel's new strategic relationship with Cingular, Patrick King, Digicel's Head of Sales says, "Our roaming product is the best in the island; we have over 200 roaming partners in over 100 countries and growing, enabling our customers to be connected in almost every destination they choose."
