THE EDITOR, Sir:
As a delegate of the PNP, who up to now has supported Mrs. Simpson Miller in her quest for the leadership of our party, I use this medium to say to her that she must keep her focus on why she thinks she should be elected, not why she thinks she has opposition.
Mrs. Simpson Miller's response to her critics concerning her unavailability for the recent PSOJ breakfast meeting must be the last time she uses the defences of being poor, belonging to the working class and being a woman. Frankly, those hackneyed phrases do not become an intelligent person who wants to be a statesman (stateswoman).
Miss Portia, you have to fight like a man along strictly professional lines the way we women have had to fight to get into the boardroom. We will not be selecting a poor female member of the lower classes to be prime minister; but a strong positive leader who will put the interest of our country and its citizens first and represent us among the countries of the world.
Frankly, I am going to develop a scorecard and rank and rate the candidates. May God help me to make the right decision.
I am, etc.,
ALISON BROWN
