Throughout the year we were introduced to some very fascinating characters. Here are our picks for best features/profiles of 2005.

PINTO'S WORLD

At 40 years old, Jamaican sculptor/artist David Pinto is highly respected in the art world.

His art has grown beyond boundaries and his pieces are collected all over the world by the rich and famous. He found out that one of his pieces was owned by Donald Trump when he saw it in one of the episodes of Apprentice.

He calls himself a: "... 'farmer' while tending to my lumber trees, 'designer' when creating a product or considering its production for a commercial client, 'potter' when making pots, 'artist', 'sculptor' or any combination depending on which of my skills is actively engaged and the intent of what I'm doing. Some people need titles. I am happy to be called by name because my title would have to change so often as the focus of my work changes."

BEVERLY ANDERSON MANLEY

After 13 years, there will be no more breakfast with Beverly Anderson-Manley as she said farewell to the popular morning show Breakfast Club on KLAS and Hot 102.

She is still involved in media with a weekly column in The Gleaner and writing a book focusing on her life as the wife of a Prime Minister and other women's issues.

PAULA-ANN PORTER

You hear her every, day on Fame FM and as the master of ceremonies at some of the hottest parties in town. In our May 2 issue we went behind the voice to the real life of Paula-Anne Porter-Jones.

Mother, producer MC, Disc jockey, voice and speech teacher, volleyball player Ms. Porter has done it all and has no plan to slow down any time soon. With three children she has two more scheduled in her super busy life.
