SCOTT KERR might have known that his girl, Annette Fletcher, would not publicly embarrass him when he boldly sent in his 100-word proposal poem to the Flair Magazine's 'Will You Marry Me?' Contest.
Thank God she said yes and her acceptance gave Flair the best wedding of 2005. Scott Kerr and Annette Fletcher-Kerr said 'I do' on the evening of Sunday, August 28 at the Old Steamer Beach, Hopewell, Hanover. Witnessed by close relatives and friends the couple had a memorable wedding that at some points it seemed would never happen, after being postponed twice before the morning and up to the time of the wedding there being 'showers of blessings'. Sounds of thunder and sparks of lightning permeated the clouds.
However, God was present, and as soon as the officiating minister, Royland Thompson commenced the ceremony, the rain stopped.
The couple, in their true loving element, gave us a memory to last a life wtime as for their first kiss as husband and wife, Mr. Kerr tenderly clasped his bride's cheeks in his palms and lovingly kissed her lips. There was more, while holding her cheeks he leaned over, whispered in her ears and softly kissed her cheeks. Sounds of laughter from guests deafened the swoosh of the waves.
After a tearful wedding ceremony the couple still continued and to give their guests loving, incessant kissing during the reception. For these reasons, and others, Scott and Annette Kerr's wedding was chosen as the best of 2005.
LEST WE FORGET
Scott and Annette Kerr stole our hearts but there was also another memorable wedding: Theresa Stone and Jason Beckford, unforgettable and worth waiting for.
He called her every day for two years before she agreed to go on a date with him. Then they dated for two years but he was never able to see her alone. Theresa Stone said she was so scared of men that on each date she made sure that they had company.
Stone, 22, met Beckford, 23, in a Sunday school meeting at the Power of Faith Ministry in Portmore, St. Catherine. On Saturday, February 5, the couple got married in shades of cream, blue and burgundy. Bishop Delford Davis was the officiating pastor at the church where they met. How unforgettable!
