The Editor, Sir:
I would just like to say a very big thank you to Air Jamaica for making my vacation to Jamaica from December 21-27, 2005 a living hell. I had planned my vacation to Montego Bay for months in advance with my girlfriend and on the day of the flight, went to the checking counter for Air Jamaica at JFK Airport to check in, and was told that because of limited cabin space on the aircraft, we had to check on our carry-on bags. We complied and regretfully did not receive our bags until over three days after landing in Montego Bay.
I am diabetic and was not able to take my medications. We made several calls to the office explaining my problem, but persons were rude to us on the phone, told to hold on, and then the phone would be disconnected etc.
There are so many other places that folks like us can choose to go on our vacation, but we chose to make Jamaica our choice. But find that Jamaica is not quite ready to accept and treat visitors with the respect that they would get from other destinations.
Air Jamaica, shame, shame, shame on your company for making my vacation that I had planned for such a long time, a living hell. I had to spend the limited money that I had to buy clothes for the several days that I was without clothes there, and got sick too because I was without my medications.
I am, etc.,
