SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine

EVERALD WARMINGTON, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Member of Parliament for South West St. Catherine, has accused some JLP members of trying to undermine his position in the constituency.

'Away with Warmington', 'No more Warmington', 'Warmington is disrespectful' and 'Warmington must go' read some of the placards.

NOT DOING ANYTHING

Several motorists agreed that their MP was not doing a good job. "Him nah do nuthin," remarked one taxi operator.

In an interview with The Gleaner, Mr. Warmington said there were four specific persons in the JLP who want him out of office, all of whom recently returned to the JLP from the National Democratic Movement.

DIVIDING PARTY

He told The Gleaner that the four are trying to form a clique within the JLP and are bent on dividing the party.

"I will not be deterred by their cowardice behaviour," Mr. Warmington said. "As far as I know the delegates and people in the constituency are the ones who elected me, and I will not let four people come and take over this office. Things are running smoothly and as I know it, I am still very much in charge."

At 6:30 a.m., staff used a large hammer to break down the gate to gain entry to the constituency office compound.
