Digicel's Rae Town menu
published: Thursday | January 12, 2006

Left: No Jamaican can resist good ole sweet potato pudding and this was served just as granny would - on lace doilies (the kind you saw in the cabinet), on a few freshly cut banana tree leaves. Right: The men gravitated to the oyster stall like moths to a flame.

THE FOLKS at Digicel Jamaica did it again with another creative media party. This time around, they chose Countryside Club on Eastwood Park Road as the venue and transformed it to a mini Rae Town, home of popular downtown dances. The event took place last Saturday night.

Food was particularly pleased with the menu of Jamaican favourites, expertly prepared by caterer par excellence, Lorraine Fong, and served by the 'vendors' on site. From roast corn with bits of roast coconut; mannish water; curried goat and white rice served in in boxes, roast fish and bammy served on pieces of foil; jerked chicken and pork in brown paper bag; roast yam and sweet potato to crispy fried sprat - it was all there and only the most disciplined or those with stapled stomachs could resist.

Here are some highlights for you.
