Jones Town ambassadors
published: Thursday | January 12, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT WAS a favourable experience to read the article about Jones Town's 'Robo-kids' in The Sunday Gleaner on January 8. I was very pleased that the subject did not revolve around some gruesome occurrence - a nice move going into the new year.

It is ironic that these young people were unsure how they would finance their impending trip up to one week before departure in a community that is 'under the care of the area don(s)'. This is clear evidence that we don't need them. The hypocrisy of having the community's best interest at heart is blatant. Big up to Scotiabank for investing in Jamaica's greatest asset - the young people.

Congratulations to the instructor, the organisation and all the bright students involved. You are all winners regardless of the outcome in the competition. Thank you for being great ambassadors of Jamaica. I hope this is an indicator of the future of our country. 'Eternal Father bless our Land'.

I am, etc.,
