T&T names new High Commissioner to Jamaica

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Foreign Affairs Minister Knowlson Gift has designated Yvonne Gittens-Joseph as the new resident High Commissioner to Kingston, Jamaica.

Gittens-Joseph will also have simultaneous accreditation as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republics of Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Gift delivered the instrument of appointment to Gittens-Joseph yesterday.

FOREIGN SERVICE

According to a release, Gittens-Joseph has served 30 years in the foreign service and was recently the acting permanent secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 15 months.

Prior to this appointment, she was the director of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Caribbean Affairs Division. She also served as deputy ambassador to the permanent mission of the United Nations in New York.
