EUELL - FILE
JAMAICAN INTERNATIONAL Jason Euell could be on his way out of English Premier League team Charlton Althletic following a renewed interest by Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce in signing the 28-year-old striker.
Euell, who made his debut for the Reggae Boyz when he came on in midfield at the 2005 Gold Cup, was expected to join the club last summer, but the deal fell apart when the forward dislocated his shoulder in the pre-season.
However, Bruce, who is attempting to bolster his injury-ravaged squad, is once again in pursuit of the striker and is reported to be close to signing a £1.5 million deal which could bring the player to Birmingham before the transfer window closes in a few days.
It has been difficult at Charlton for the striker of late, following a sensational 2003-04 season in which he scored 10 goals in 33 games for the club.
He had a disappointing 2004/05 season as in 31 appearances - 23 of them from the substitutes bench - he managed to only net twice.
Since recovering from injury this season, Euell has not looked to be a part of Charlton boss Allan Curbishley's plans and has so far failed to appear for the club. Euell, who could be a part of the Jamaica squad set to take on England in a June 3 friendly, joined Charlton from Wimble-don in July 2001.
