Top Jamaican junior athletes Samantha Henry of Queen's, St. Jago's Natasha Ruddock and André Wellington of Kingston College (KC), had comfortable wins at yesterday's second edition of the Douglas Forest Develop-ment Track and Field Meet at National Stadium east complex.
However, up to press time, it was Henry who led the way with two victories. She first won the 200m for Class Two girls in 24.6 ahead of her Jamaica junior teammate and World Youth bronze medallist Lotaya King of St. Jago (25.2).
In the 400m, Henry returned to clock 57.6 to beat St. Jago's Yanique Haye (57.8) for the crown.
Meanwhile, Ruddock, the reigning World Youth and Junior Pan American Championships silver medallist, celebrated her 17th birthday yesterday, with an easy victory in her pet event, the Class Two 100m hurdles in 13.9 seconds.
A three-time Carifta Games Under-17 champion, Ruddock defeated Alpha's pair of Rose-Marie Carthy (14.1) and Shermaine Williams, the Carifta Games Under-17 silver medallist (14.3).
In the Class One boys 200m, Wellington won the event in 22.2 seconds ahead of his team-mate Oshane Braham (22.5) and St. George's College's Adrian Melvin (22.5).
Crystal Willis of Queen's (25.4) beat her schoolmate Renée Reid (26.1) to win the girls' Class One 200m.
Sheldon White of Jamaica College (JC) (22.8) defeated Warren Weir of Calabar (22.9) and André Peart of KC (22.9) for the boys 200m Class Two crown.
Josef Robertson, the former Calabar star now running in the colours of Wolmer's Boys, took the boys' 400m hurdles in 54.,2 ahead of KC's Leford Green (54.7). Both athletes are national representatives.
