FINES AMOUNTING to $96,000 were placed on three gas station operators who pleaded guilty to operating without the requisite petroleum and spirit licences in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Victor Chung who operates a Texaco service station on Half-Way Tree Road was fined $30,000 for operating without a valid petroleum license.
MORE GUILTY PLEAS
Sharon Latibeaudiere and Melvin Chung of Chung's Esso located at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Molynes Road were fined $33,000 each for operating without petroleum and spirit licenses.
Two other operators, Dotty Dean of Shell located on Half-Way Tree Road and Hopeton Nembhard of Texaco located at Washington Boulevard, pleaded not guilty to the charges of
operating without a petroleum and spirit license. They are to appear before Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle on February 14 when the case will be tried.
Meanwhile, four other corporate area gas stations located in Ligunea, Manor Park and Mary Brown's Corner have been served with summonses for breaches of the Petroleum Act as the Island Special Constabulary Force continues the drive to regularise the system.
