Driver held for manslaughter
published: Monday | January 16, 2006

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

PATRICK CHUNG, 47, was arrested and charged by the Spanish Town Police on January 14 with two counts of manslaughter, for the deaths of eight-year-old Jissell Edwards and her five-year-old sister Amoy by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Osbourne Fearon of the St. Catherine North Traffic Department told The Gleaner that Mr. Chung is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town RM Court today to answer to the charges.

Reports are that about 3:15 p.m., Chung was driving a truck towards Old Harbour, when upon reaching a section of the McCooks Pen main road, he lost control of the truck which ran off the road, killing the two children.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that the children had gone to catch water and stopped to pick plums when they were killed.
