Wolmer's brace for confident Tivoli Gardens

WOLMER'S BOYS will shoot for their second win of the season when they take on an unbeaten Tivoli High as Southern Conference action in the 2005-2006 Under-19 KFC-sponsored ISSA High School Basketball competition resumes at 3:30p.m. today at Wolmer's.

Wolmer's went into the Christmas break on a high note following a narrow victory over St. George's College at home. However, due to the withdrawal of both Denham Town and Norman Manley, that had been the school's only game of the season, which puts them in sixth place in zone B.

A win against Tivoli could see them rocket to the top of the table, along with Kingston College, in a zone very wide open due to the two missing teams.

Tivoli Gardens, led by their top scorer Havando Dunn, who has racked up huge numbers in both games played so far this season, 54 against Vauxhall and 34 against St. George's, will also have their eyes on taking over zone B leadership as a win against Wolmer's will temporarily move them to four points which will be one more than Jamaica College. Tivoli coach Desmond Fray considers this a likely scenario, despite facing a much bulkier Wolmer's line-up.

"We've been training to keep ourselves fit for the restart, we are not worried about their size. George's had a much bigger line-up as well, but that did not stop us," he commented.

"Come tomorrow we will be going out there to give it our best. They'll have their crowd support but we are ready," he said.

In the day's other Southern Conference games also scheduled for a 3:30 start, defending champions Calabar, over in zone A, will also have their ambitions set on moving up the table when they take on a winless Campion who now occupy the bottom spot.
