A DELEGATION led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, K.D. Knight is now in San Andres, Colombia for the fifth meeting of the Jamaica-Colombia Binational Commission.
The meeting which started yesterday at the Sunrise Beach Hotel will examine a number of issues including security, consular and immigration, combating the drug problem, trade and investment, education, culture and science and technology.
AREAS OF COOPERATION
At the opening ceremony, Minister Knight underscored the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries pointing to continued areas of cooperation such as language training, trade and security.
For her part, Colombia's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Carolina Barco, pledged her country's support in deepening cooperation between the two countries particularly in the fight against illicit drugs.
The meeting will end today. The first Jamaica-Colombia binational was held in February 1996. The main objective of the commission is to deepen relations between the two countries.
