'Hot Spot' is on spot
published: Wednesday | January 18, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

REVEREND DEVON Dick's article published on January 10 recommended Basil Dawkins' award winning play Hot Spot as a wholesome local alternative to the imported films which glorify murder, mayhem, gang-war and such ills which our nation yearns so desperately to be rid of; but indeed as the television stations and local cinemas continue to feed our children the 'ills' of developed nations, 'monkey see monkey do'.

Crafted in true Jamaican humour, the values of caring for mind and body, honest pursuit of earning in trying times and the virtues of forgiveness are brought emphatically.

Hot Spot is on spot at a time when our nation needs to reinforce the positives. I recommend that all hopeful Jamaicans see this local production.

I am, etc.,

HOPEFUL JAMAICAN
