ST. CATHERINE, Spanish Town:

WITH ONE round remaining in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League all teams are playing for keeps. And with Rivoli lying at the bottom of the league, the powers that be are doing their best to ensure that the club maintains its place in the league.

To bolster their chances, Rivoli have acquired the services of Calvert Fitzgerald, formerly of Waterhouse, to coach the team, which has been backed up by the return of the prodigal son Patrick Beech, who had left for Arnett Gardens.

Fitzgerald told The Gleaner he is on a business mission.

"I am here to deal with the training of the team and will be doing just that with emphasis on fitness," he said. "The team is lacking in that department and that's why we are at the position we are at and that will have to change quickly if we are to remain in the league."

Continuing his assessment, Fitzgerald stated: "We have one of the better players in the likes of Devon Hodges, who in the near future must be looked at nationally."

The addition of Patrick Beech, he says, adds great hope to the Rivoli roster.

Beech himself has promised to make his return assist an upward thrust for the cellar dwellers.

"I will be making my presence felt as even after leaving for Arnett Gardens I was a Rivoli player at heart and I know that Spanish Town needs a Rivoli," Beech said.

He also said that he will be doing his best to make the entire St. Catherine proud of Rivoli as it's the only Spanish Town team in the league.
