Quick Tips - Eliminate that awful fish smell
published: Thursday | January 19, 2006

FISH LOVERS often complain about the raw smell that pervades the kitchen during fish preparation, but using lots of fresh limes or lemon juice will eliminate the odour as you scale, gut or clean the fish. If you have to do this at home and are fortunate to have a backyard, use it.

In an apartment, you can also use some vinegar in the water and clean the counter area with lots of bleach in the water. Boiling some pimento grains on the stove as you fry fish will also keep fishy smell at bay and a slice/wedge or two of lime on the plate when you serve the fish, will make the meal more palatable. If guests are around, bring out the finger bowl after meal.
