St George's beat KC by four wickets

ST. GEORGE'S College, Norman Manley and St Catherine recorded opening round victories in yesterday's Urban Grace Shield schoolboy cricket competition.

At Melbourne Park, St. George's defeated Kingston College by four wickets. KC were dismissed for 109 with Marvin Darlington, 35, and Jamar Symester, 22, against Rennor McLune (4-36), Leonard Walker (2-17), Korie Roberts (2-20) and Ricardo Hines (2-22).

St George's replied with 113 for six. Taffari Hibbert, 33 not out and McLune, 23, led the way. Christie Jones took 3-36.

At Waterford playfield, former champions Norman Manley defeated Waterford by 57 runs.

Norman Manley were first dismissed for 193 with Horace Miller, 53, and Sidue Hunter, 43, making most runs.

In reply, Waterford made 136 against Rayon Francis 4-25.

At St John's Road - St. Catherine defeated Wolmer's by four wickets.

Wolmer's fell for 151 with Christopher Hinds, 49, and Jon Ross Campbell, 37, against Kevin Lawrence 4-32.

St Catherine replied with 152 for six. Rohan Franklyn made 45.

The game between JC and Bridgeport was not played.
