THE JAMAICA Hockey Federation/Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association Under-19 High Schools competition got under way yesterday at the Mona Hockey Field.

In the first game of the day Wolmer's Boys failed to find a win against Papine, after they went ahead in the first half and looked the better team for long spells.

The 1-1 draw was due in large part to individual efforts on the part of Papine, who, while failing to come together as a team, showed sublime skills with the stick.

As a matter of fact, Papine's equaliser came after Kimani Airey had weeved his way between two Wolmer's players and smacked a beautiful shot to the far post from the left side of the field.

FIRST ASSIST

Wolmer's had earlier gone ahead through Peter Blake, after Jevaughn McPherson had knocked in a corner to him, giving the youngster his first assist of the season.

In the other game of the day, Munro College made sure not to waste their trip from St. Elizabeth after they clipped Tivoli Gardens 2-1.

Munro got their goals through Gerren Rowe and Duvanyln Henton, while Oneil Robinson got Tivoli's consolation strike.

The other game of the day between defending champions Jamaica College and St Andrew Technical High School was postponed until today at 4:00 p.m.

At 2:00 p.m. today, the female competition will bully off with defending champions St Hughs playing Wolmer's Girls.

Following that will be a game between Excelsior and Papine High scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The game between the Convent of Mercy Academy 'Alpha' and Immaculate Conception will not be played.
