What are we voting for?
published: Thursday | January 26, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

FOUR PERSONS are running for the post of president of the People's National Party. All the candidates have been Members of Parliament for more than 10 years. It is obvious that these 10 years have not been 'progressive'.

Their résumés should speak so profoundly that campaigning should be left for the 'newcomers'.

Mrs. Miller's constituency tells a story about the type of Prime Minister she will be. Dr. Peter Phillips' crime management tells us about his management skills.

Dr. Davies says "he brings unity in the community" and his constituency is under 24-hour police and military patrol. Dr. Blythe said everything was alright in the party until he wanted to be Prime Minister.

Sir, can you tell me what we are voting for? Jamaican people need to vote for proper representation that will prove beneficial for the country.

I am, etc.,
