DEFREITAS
THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF of the Jamaica Observer, Paget deFreitas, has resigned, effective January 31, after 12 years in the job.
Edward Khoury, the newspaper's chief executive officer, did not give a specific reason for the editor's resignation. He said that Vernon Davidson, senior associate editor, has been appointed to act in the top editorial job.
Mr. Khoury assured that the 13-year-old newspaper, owned by hotel mogul Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, would not be affected by Mr. deFreitas' resignation.
