Another student stabbed
published: Friday | January 27, 2006

WHILE THE police, parents, school administrators, members of the Clark's Town and Falmouth communities were preparing for a meeting to discuss the stabbing death of a Cedric Titus High School student yesterday morning, another stabbing incident occurred involving students. This time at the St. Catherine High School.

Two 15-year-old male students at the Spanish Town school had an altercation in which an ice pick was brought into play. One boy was stabbed several times. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital. His condition is said to be serious.

The Spanish Town police have arrested and charged the other youth for felonious wounding. He is to be brought to court next week.

When The Gleaner visited the institution, yesterday evening, teachers were mum. They claimed that the person who could comment was not on the compound. However, several students claimed the stabbing victim had always been pestering other students for money, and that was what started the fracas.

GREATER POLICE PRESENCE

Meanwhile, over in Clark's Town, Trelawny, there were many ideas and concerns circulating within the large gathering at Cedric Titus High School. Nothing concrete came out of the meeting, however, as the major proposal, which is greater police presence at the school and in the town, was initially not warmly received by the school management.
