Robert Royer, Gleaner WriterTHE DEBATE planned for next Tuesday among the four People's National Party (PNP) presidential candidates has been postponed.
The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), which is planning the debate, has rescheduled the event to Tuesday, February 7, one week later than originally planned.
Speaking with The Gleaner yesterday, PSOJ President Beverly Lopez said, "it was just too many things to get ready in time to catch January 31".
Mrs. Lopez further explained that two debates were originally being planned, but that it was now down to one. The duration of the debate is likely to be increased from 90 minutes.
"The contenders have already been notified to prepare for the February 7 debate," Mrs. Lopez said.
LEADERSHIP VISION
The debate is aimed at giving the candidates the opportunity to publicly air their vision for leadership.
The candidates will also be required to state the difference they will bring to the leadership of the PNP.
All four candidates have signed up for the debate, which is scheduled to be carried live on television and radio.
