VENECIA REID
WITH FOUR goals in three games including a hat-trick this week, Venecia Reid has performed more than admirably for Jamaica's Under-20 women in their failed World Cup qualification bid.
For that hat-trick, Reid is The Gleaner's Performer of the Week.
After Jamaica lost to the United States and defeated El-Salvador, they not only needed to beat Suriname, but they needed to get some goals if they were to go any further in the competition.
Reid stepped up big time to deliver a hat-trick, scoring in the 37th, 53rd, and 90th minutes of play to aid the Reggae Girlz to a thumping 9-0 result.
Reid showed her class on Friday when she hit back with a game-tying goal against Mexico. She equalised in the 33rd minute of play and gave Jamaica some hope of getting into the World Cup.
Unfortunately, Jamaica were not able to find a way to win, despite Reid's efforts and Mexico won 4-1.
But four goals this week alone on the international scene mean that she is The Gleaner's Performer of the Week.
