Leaders face off

JOINT LEADERS Masemure and Frome will face-off in tomorrow's feature match of the Sugar Company of Jamaica (SCJ)/Westmoreland domestic cricket league at Little London High School.

After four rounds of preliminary matches, Masemure and Paradise are joint leaders with 13 points each, followed by Retreat and Frome (eight each), Belle Isle (four) and Blue Castle (zero).

In the day's other matches, Paradise will entertain Belle Isle at Belle Isle, while Retreat hunt maximum points from the lowly-placed Blue Castle at Mannings School.

All matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, Masemure's Nathnan Reid scored the first century of the limited overs competition last Sunday.

MASTERFUL CENTURY

In the match against Belle Isle played at Little London High School, Reid struck a masterful 113 to post the fastest century in the competition's two-year history.

Reid struck 10 fours and nine sixes in his innings, which lifted Masemure to 298 for eight in 36 overs.

In reply, Belle Isle were bowled out for 162 in 28 overs.

In the feature match, Frome defeated Blue Castle courtesy of the Duckworth/Lewis Method.

Blue Castle first made 192 for nine in 36 overs. Frome were 177 for three in 28.2 overs when rain stopped play.

In the day's third match, joint leaders Paradise defeated Retreat in a tight finish.

Retreat batted first and posted 250 for eight in their allotted 40 overs with Marlon Wilson getting a top-score of 91.

Paradise replied with 251 for eight in 39.1 overs, this after they lashed two sixes and a four in the penultimate over; and a four off the last ball to secure victory.
