Excellent obituary

THE EDITOR, Sir:

YOUR EXCELLENT OBITUARY of the late Dr. Dorothy Blake listed many of her outstanding academic and professional accomplishments. It omitted however a very important and lasting achievement, The Port Antonio Health Centre. In the 1980s when Dr. Blake was the MOH for Portland, she determined that there was a real need for both a health centre and offices for the parish health services. Dr. Blake set out the requirements, secured the land and then arranged for a grant from the Dutch Government to finance the construction.

This centre has served the people of Portland for over 20 years. It would be fitting remembrance if it was renamed the Dr. Dorothy Blake Health Centre in her well deserved honour.
