Andem gang member to be sentenced today
published: Thursday | February 2, 2006

KEVIN TYNDALE, otherwise called 'Richie Pooh', who was reported to be a member of the Joel Andem gang and Brenton Fletcher, fisherman, of Mud Town near Gordon Town , St. Andrew, will be sentenced today after being convicted for murder in the Home Circuit Court on Monday.

A Home Circuit Court jury retired for over an hour and found them guilty of the non-capital murder of Jervis Lobban, a taxi operator. Lobban was shot dead in Mud Town on August 14, 2003.

Tyndale was convicted in the Gun Court last year on charges of illegal possession of firearm, robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent and was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment.

GUNS EXCHANGED

The Crown represented by Paula Llewellyn, Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions and Icolin Reid, Crown Counsel, led evidence at the trial before Mr. Justice Horace Marsh and the jury that while Lobban was washing his car at the playfield in Mud Town, Fletcher drove a motor car and stopped close to where Lobban was. Tyndale came up shortly after and he and Fletcher exchanged guns.

SHOTS FIRED

Tyndale then fired several shots hitting Lobban. A man who was nearby was also shot and injured. Fletcher and Tyndale subsequently apologised to the man for shooting him accidentally.

The matter was reported to the police and the men were arrested and charged a year later.

Tyndale and Fletcher gave unsworn statements from the dock, denying they were involved in the murder.
