SPELLING BEE FINALS: Confident finalist
published: Friday | February 3, 2006

Adrian Raymond, St. Thomas

HE IS the second child from Airy Castle Primary to take the top prize in St. Thomas.

Adrian Raymond, the 11-year-old champion, is brimming with confidence before the final.

"I feel all right. I'm not nervous because I'm sure I'll place in at least the top five," he says confidently. His favourite subjects are social studies and science. For one reaching for the stars, no wonder he wants to be a pilot.

"He gets plenty of benefits from the Spelling Bee. It makes him motivated because he's a quiet child," his mother, Ingrid Edmondson, says. When Adrian comes home from school, she is ready to test him with some more words after his sessions at school.

Adrian is also involved in the 4-H and environmental clubs in his school. In his spare time, he plays cricket and watches cartoons. He wants to attend Morant Bay High.
