FORMER WATERHOUSE players continue to enjoy success at Harbour View in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League.

Desmond Breakenridge had a successful debut for 'the Stars of the East' in Wednesday's third-round game against Arnett Gardens at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium.

The former Waterhouse defender successfully broke a six game streak of no wins in all competitions for Harbour View in a 1-0 victory where another former Waterhouse player, Richard Edwards was the man on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute of play. Edwards, who had an outstanding game, both in attack and defence, received a pass played back to him by Richard West, who had expertly robbed the ball from his marker in the box.

REQUISITE COMPOSURE

The diminutive midfielder showed the requisite composure in side footing the ball from eighteen yards into the right-hand corner of the net, sounding Arnett's death knell.

After the game Harbour View's coach Donovan Hayles, while praising Edwards' finish was equally vocal about the play of Breakenridge in the heart of his defence.

"I knew it would be hard but I told them at half time that the goal would come and that they would just have to be patient and make sure that we execute with purpose and Edwards came and he did that," he said.

"Breakenridge was excellent today, he is a class player and as long as he keeps his head steady and plays football this way he has a far way to go," Hayles added.

Another trump card in the Harbour View line-up on Wednesday night was, interestingly enough, goalkeeper Leighton Murray.

"I appreciate and I must comment on Murray. He had a very bad game against Waterhouse and he was called upon today. Coming off a performance like that to play the way he did today speaks to his mettle and I have to give credit to him for that," said Hayles, who watched Murray pick an exquisitely struck Kevin 'Pele' Wilson free-kick out of the right-hand top corner of his goal. Wilson and Harbour View defender, Gregory Simpson were red-carded during the game.

The game also marked the return of Eugene Barnes to the Arnett line-up and he did a fair job in earnest, during what was a hard fought game.

Arnett's coach, Jerome Waite, while disappointed with the result was heartened by the fighting spirit that his team displayed.

"We are basically out of contention for the Premier League, but we are going to continue to be competitive throughout," Waite warned his opponents.
