Immaculate High School ensemble in performance.

THE EAST lawns of Devon House Heritage Site will, on Saturday February 18, come alive with the riveting sounds of Jamaica's largest school instrumental ensemble, the Immaculate Conception High School Orchestra. The sixty-five strong orchestra, led by choir director Steven Woodham will deliver an exciting one-hour performance with solo and group presentations ranging from contemporary to traditional classical pieces.

The Immaculate Conception High School Orchestra continues to command respect and admiration in the musical arena and has been lauded as, "an extremely well coordinated and disciplined group, exhibiting a very good standard of school orchestra and one that consistently display exceptional quality".

ULTIMATE VENUE

According to Woodham the collaboration between the Heritage Site and Immaculate is a timely one. "Devon House is the ultimate venue for an ensemble such as ours, because visitors to this site are always looking to enhance their experience, and we are always looking for an outlet to help promote the image and extend the knowledge of classical music."

The event sets the tone for the activities slated to take place at Devon House particularly as the property has its sights set on World Cup Cricket 2007, which is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the capital city. As a tourist attraction in Kingston and St. Andrew, Devon House is among those sites expected to be on show and the property is gearing up to provide patrons with a blend of vibrant and captivating events.
