JAVIER BROWN will forever be remembered as the boy who put Gospel Chapel Prep on the map.
Javier overcame 36 other spellers to land the St. Mary parish title for his school, Gospel Chapel Prep, which is based in Annotto Bay.
"I'm not nervous, because I'm studying every day for about five hours," he says.
He is not in any clubs, but he does like home economics class. Rice and peas and chicken is his speciality, but he does not want to be a chef.
He would like to be a mechanical engineer, because he likes working on cars. "I only cook for sport," he laughs.
His father, Harold Brown, remembers his son expressing the wish to compete in the spelling bee. He did not take him seriously then, but is glad Javier stuck with it.
"I think he was shy before. Now he's getting more confidence, more exposure," his dad notes.
Javier is not much of a sportsman, but he does play cricket and football. Javier wants to attend St. Mary High.
