TRINIDAD: Bandits rob, beat senior magistrate
published: Thursday | February 9, 2006

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

TRINIDAD AND Tobago police were searching for four armed bandits who held up a senior magistrate and her family and robbed them of a quantity of cash and jewellery.

Police said that senior magistrate Luciana Cardenas-Ragoonanan and her family were asleep at their home in Palmiste, San Fernando, south of here, when the men, armed with cutlasses and a gun, entered the two-storey building.

"I was in a deep sleep and when I opened my eyes I saw all four around the bed. I wondered if I was dreaming. Then I realised it was real. I started to scream and they got into motion," she told reporters.
