PULSE SUPERMODEL and Esquire covergirl Carla Campbell left New York last week for the NFL Superbowl in Detroit held on Sunday. This was ahead of a two-week swing through Las Vegas and other major United States cities on a tour organised by the publishers of Sports Illustrated (SI).
The magazine's famous swimsuit issue appears on February 14 at a glitzy launch party to be held in New York that evening. Campbell's selection for the tour is fuelling speculation that she may be heavily featured in this year's swimsuit issue.
An appearance in the magazine, the most coveted editorial in modelling, would put Campbell over the top as an established new superstar of the modelling industry.
With a svelte 'new' body, Carla Campbell elevated her star status in 2005. She copped a couple of super editorials for Cosmopolitan, shot Victoria Secret and is now rated among the sexiest models in the business.
Each year the SI team engages the world's top photographer, scouts the most exotic locations, and flies to these unspoilt spots to capture stunning images of the beautiful bodies seen in the magazine. One of these beautiful bodies could well be Campbell, who could easily join a select handful of black models to have had the opportunity for a feature in Sports Illustrated magazine.
Noemie Lenoir, Lorraine Pascale, Georgianna Robertson, Roshumba Williams, Jessica White and Tyra Banks are the black models who have appeared on the cover and in editorials for the magazine.
Carla was discovered in the Pulse model search and counts among her clients L'Oreal, Nike and several others. She was inducted into the Pulse Fashion and Beauty Hall of Fame last summer.
