St. Jago look to bounce past KC and maintain winning streak
published: Thursday | February 9, 2006

UNBEATEN ST. Jago will go for their ninth straight win of the KFC sponsored ISSA High School basketball season when they take on Zone B runners-up Kingston College at 3:30 p.m. at the National Stadium courts today.

However, a groin injury to leading scorer and rebounder Adrian Forbes could make their task today a stern one.

Having started the second round in winning fashion with a 57-45 victory over Tivoli Gardens, they will now take aim at a Kingston College team which, despite starting the competition with a 4-0 record, has lost two of its past three games. A decision on centre Forbes' fitness will be made at game time, said St. Jago coach Kevin Grossett.

"He was injured in the Tivoli game he had to be substituted at least a couple of times. We play inside, outside and it will be a real challenge for us if he is not able to go today," Grossett said of the player who has averaged a double-double this season.

A loss for St. Jago would leave the group wide open and any of the four teams would still stand a good chance of making it to the semi-finals. In the day's other clash, Tivoli Gardens will look to rebound when they take on Jamaica College on court B.

Jamaica College got off to a good start on Monday when they turned back Kingston College 56-50.
