Jamaican engineer missing in Red Sea accident
published: Friday | February 10, 2006

A JAMAICAN ENGINEER who worked on the ill-fated ferry, AlSalam 98, that caught fire and sank into the Red Sea last week, is feared to be among the casualties of this disaster.

His father, Osmond Brown, recently-retired building contractor who lives in Manchioneal, Portland, leaves the island today for England en route to Egypt to ascertain the fate of his son, the youngest of his four children.

Mr. Brown has not heard from his son since the ferry incident, and he last spoke with him in December. His son, who lived and studied in England before working in the Middle East, is married and has three children.
