THE AMERICAN Women's Group (AWG), of Jamaica's annual Valentine's Dinner-Dance will take place tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at The Hilton, Kingston Hotel. Music will be provided by the increasingly popular 50/50 Band with a guest performance by the group Sapphire's Edge. Tickets for the night will cost $4.500.00
The annual affair is yet another AWG fundraiser by non-profit organisation whose membership consists of Americans, Jamaicans, diplomats and a multinational group of volunteers who focus on helping some of the less privileged children of Jamaica. The AWG provides scholarships for students and assist various communities with some of their special needs. Last year the group provided assistance with school fees, books and exam fees to over 50 children, most of whom were referred by charitable institutions and schools. Many of the helped over the years students have progressed through the grades with the AWG's assistance and the organisation eagerly anticipates their graduation. Other success stories include students who have gone on to tertiary education. The goal is to continue to support students and increase funding for social outreach programme.
'VALENTINE'S FANTASY BALL'
So to help reach their financial goals, the AWG will tomorrow host a 'Valentine's Fantasy Ball' at the Hilton. The highlight of the evening will be the Silent Auction of contributions donated by local businesses and friends.
This year's event will be a masked ball, at which a beautiful collection of masks will be offered to guests who will be transported into a fantasy of romance with lights, colours, fabric and plants helping to set the mood of love. Cocktails will be served before a special menu created by the Hilton for the occasion.
Other highlights are: an auction of the fabulous Jamaican art and sculpture, jewellery, exciting and romantic weekend getaways, and more. Master of ceremonies will be Michael Anthony Cuff of Radio Mona.
