Cosmos face stern test
published: Saturday | February 11, 2006

EASTERN CONFEDERATION Super League leaders Star Cosmos face a stern test tomorrow when they travel to Drax Hall to play Brazil. Match time is 3:00 p.m.

Both teams have met twice already this season. Star Cosmos, a former National Premier League outfit, won the first encounter but lost to the St. Ann-based side 1-0 in the mid-season final.

Star Cosmos are atop the 10-team standings with 32 points from 13 matches while Brazil are second on 27 points.

Elsewhere, third-placed St. George's from Portland, on 20 points, will entertain bottom-placed St. Ann's Benfica (10 points) at Lynch Park while fourth-placed Bath of St. Thomas (18) tackle Axum of St. Mary (17) at Bath Primary and Junior High.

In other matches, Port Morant face York at Cuttom Tree and Berlin play Iyante at Paul Bogle High in clashes of St. Thomas teams.

In last week's matches, York Sports Club scored the biggest victory, beating Benfica 5-1 at York Oval. Star Cosmos and St. George's played to a 1-1 draw at Brimmervale High School; Brazil defeated Port Morant 1-0 at Drax Hall; Axum and Berlin played to a goalless draw at St. Mary's Sports Club (formerly Gary's Inn) and Iyante beat Bath 1-0 at Bull Pen.
