Holland poised to take League lead
published: Saturday | February 11, 2006

SECOND-PLACE Holland look set to take over leadership of the Wray & Nephew St. Elizabeth Major League football competition when they travel to Lyceo tomorrow for their eighth-round match against New River.

Like Rasta Camp, Holland are on 12 points, but with a better goal difference. Safari Lions who are idle tomorrow, lead the 12-team standings with 13 points while River River are at the bottom on three.

In another game, promoted Division One champions Rasta Camp can also climb to the top of the standings if they beat fifth-placed Super Action at Mountain Side.

In the day's third game, sixth-placed Balaclava United should get the better of Epping Forest at Munro.

All games are set to start at 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, action in the parish's Division One league continues today. Mountain Side face New Holland at Mountain Side while hosts Leeds tackle Knoxwood. Both games start at 3:30 p.m.

In the opening matches of the season, played at Lacovia Sports Complex, New Holland defeated Tafari Youth 2-1 while Longwood United and Knoxwood ended 0-0.

In action earlier this week, Leeds beat Burton United 3-2 and Young Brazil edged Cataboo 2-1 on Tuesday while Rocky Hill United outscored Mountain Side 3-2.
