WITH THE World Cup of Cricket in the West Indies just a year away, Jamaicans are fast beginning to put together their savings for the spectacle that will be the focal point of all eyes come March 5, 2007.
Buying tickets, whether it be for the warm-up games at the Greenfield Stadium or the actual games in the various Caribbean countries, can become a complex equation that must begin with the question: What kind of tickets can I buy?
From the over 800,000 tickets available, there are five types that can be garnered: Individual matches, which include party stand tickets; tour and travel packages; corporate hospitality packages; venue combination packages 'A' and 'B'; and, follow a path packages 'A' and 'B'.
An individual match ticket is just as its name suggests and allows the buyer to attend one game. Those tickets are available in four price categories. Category 1 the highest quality; category 2 middle quality; category 3 standard quality; and, a party stand a stand designed to create a party atmosphere with complimentary food and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Jamaicans who wish to watch more than just those games
earmarked for Jamaica can buy other individual tickets as well.
When talking about watching games outside of Jamaica, then maybe the best thing to do is to apply for other types of tickets that will allow for watching numerous games.
The tour and travel package is a match ticket that includes the provision of an accommodation component that could also involve an international travel component to and from host venues. Official travel agents for this purpose have been set up around the world, including Jamaica.
The corporate hospitality package is a match ticket sold in conjunction with hospitality services provided by Hospitality 2007, the official hospitality partner of the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Incorporated (ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc.).
