SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

A 59-YEAR-OLD business-man has been arrested and charged by the Spanish Town police with simple larceny of items totalling more than $50 million.

He is Bennedeto Perschili, otherwise called 'Benny' of 28B Stetson Drive, Kingston.

MISSING COMPACTOR

According to police reports, in February 2005, the complainant, Henry Lue of Omara Road, Kingston, lodged a complaint that a compactor was missing from his business place.

An investigation was launched by the police and the item was found at New Era 2000 in Hillrun, St. Catherine. New Era 2000 is a company operated by Perschili.

After further investigations, Mr. Perschili was arrested on Sunday by the investigating officer.

He was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 and is to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court next Tuesday.
