T&T: ... Ato does not desire division
published: Friday | February 17, 2006

PORT OF SPAIN (Trinidad Express):

NEWLY-APPOINTED Opposition Senator Ato Boldon has said that there will be problems if he has to choose a side between Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday and United National Congress political leader Winston Dookeran.

"I don't feel like I have to pick a side but if I am asked to choose then that is going to be a problem," said Boldon.

NOT CAUSE FOR DIVISION

Boldon disclosed this to the Daily Express yesterday after what was his final motivational speech to students at the Diego Martin Government Secondary school under the Guardian newspaper's leadership series.

"I have my relationship with Mr. Panday and I have the utmost respect for Mr Dookeran. If I am forced to choose a side then we'll address that. I'm trying to stay out of that and not be a cause for any further divisiveness," he said.

Boldon said that he believes Dookeran should have been part of the decision making process to have him appointed Senator.
