Howard Campbell, Gleaner Writer

A 43-YEAR-OLD businessman was charged yesterday with attempting to bribe two policemen who gave him a ticket for a traffic violation.

The man charged is Nie Chengzong of an Upper Waterloo Road address.

According to a statement from the Constabulary Communication Network, Mr. Chengzong was stopped by the policemen at the intersection of South Camp Road and North Street at 10:00 a.m.

$500 BRIBE

They were about to issue a ticket for his indiscretion when he allegedly offered them $500 to avoid being penalised.

Mr. Chengzong was arrested and charged by the Elletson Road police. He is scheduled to answer the charge on February 24 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
