MIRACLE MAN

MIRACLE MAN was last night named 'Horse of the Year' at the annual None Such awards dinner held at the Hilton Hotel, New Kingston.

Owned by Joseph 'Fudgie' Duany and trained by Hall of Famer Allan 'Billy' Williams, the classy 4-y-o chestnut colt by Law Of The Sea out of Hya, who won five races (and $7.7 million in stakes) including the Digicel Derby, Red Stripe Superstakes, Cable & Wireless St. Leger and Lotto Classic for the Governor's Cup last year, was also named Champion 3-Y-O, Champion 3-Y-O Stayer and Champion Stayer, among other awards.

The Philip Feanny-trained A KING IS BORN, now retired to stud, copped awards for first runner-up to the Horse of the Year, Champion Sprinter, Champion Middle Distance Performer, Champion 4-Y-O and up, and Champion Local Bred.

The crack imported colt CLOCK WORK was named second runner-up to the Horse of the Year and Champion Foreign-Bred, while Richard Azan's RAMPAGE was unanimously voted Champion 2-Y-O.

Other recipients of awards not based on statistics are as follows: Anthony 'Baba' Nunes (Most Improved Trainer), Dalton Brown (Most Improved Jockey) and EMMVEEPEE (Claimer of the Year).

NONE SUCH AWARD TO HUSSEYS

They join the statistical winners Wayne DaCosta (Champion Trainer), Trinidad & Tobago's Brian Harding (Champion Jockey), Alexander Haber (Champion Owner) Linval McFarlane from the DaCosta stables (Champion Groom), Orange Valley Estates (Champion Breeders), Royal Minister (Champion Sire) and Hya (Champion Broodmare) as other winners of major awards

The night's other major award - the None Such Award for lifetime achievement went to the Hussey family - Charles Hussey (jockey), Percy Hussey (trainer), their mom Ruth (2004 champion owner) and her husband Laurie (former top flight trainer).
