Sweet prizes in SCJ showdown tomorrow

THE CHAMPIONSHIP showdown in the Sugar Company of Jamaica (SCJ) Westmoreland Limited Overs cricket competition will be played tomorrow.

In the match set for Belle Isle, Masemure and last year's beaten finalists Retreat will face-off for the right to be crowned SCJ/Westmoreland cricket champion and collect $60,000.

The runners-up will pocket $30,000 while the best batsman and best bowler will receive $7,500 each.

The most disciplined team will walk away with $10,000.

In last week's semi-finals, Masemure and Retreat got the better of Frome and Paradise respectively.

At Mannings High, Masemure scored 186 for nine off 20 overs (Alden Samuels, 49, Damion Davidson, 46, Omar Campbell, 27, Nathan Reid, 15, Dixieth Palmer, 14) to beat Frome 153 (Howard Hamilton, 30, Andrew Johnstone, 25, Edward Bacchas, 25, Jermain Stenneth, 16) by 33 runs.

At Allan Rae Oval, Retreat, 202 for eight off 37 overs, beat Paradise, 141 all out in 32.2 overs (Zeniffe Fowler, 23, Crafton Miller, 14; Ricardo Sitteron 3-19) by 61 runs.
