Manchioneal ready for Strikers' challenge
published: Saturday | February 18, 2006

RUNAWAY LEADERS Manchioneal seek their eighth win in the Western Union /Portland Major League when they face Eagle Strikers tomorrow at Carder Park.

Match time is 3:00 p.m.

Unbeaten in eight matches, Manchioneal will try to add to their 22 points and stretch their lead atop the points standings.

Leading goalscorer Dwayne Phidd of Manchioneal will also be looking to add to his six goals so far this season against the league's second worst defensive team.

Eagle Strikers are fifth in the eight-team league on 10 points, two ahead of third-from-bottom Progressive.

other game

In the day's other game, defending champions Taurus, who have been finding the going tough this season, will battle Progressive in the battle of struggling teams also at Carder Park, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Taurus, who won last year's final, are sitting on five points from eight matches.

In last Sunday's matches, Kevin Douglas scored a brace to lead Milan to a 3-2 win over Snow Hill at CASE.

Radge Afflick scored Milan's third goal while Kenroy Haughton and Dwayne Patterson netted for the losers.

In the weekend's other game, beaten mid-season finalists Manchioneal edged Taurus 1-1 at Jones Park.
