Warner guilty ZURICH, Switzerland (CMC):
Football's world governing body, FIFA, has ruled its vice-president Jack Warner guilty of violating its ethics code over ticket sales in his native Trinidad and Tobago for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.
Warner's family travel agency Simpaul were given the rights to sell Trinidad and Tobago's entire allocation of World Cup tickets in Trinidad and Tobago, and the FIFA Committee of Ethics and Fairplay said Warner's actions posed a "conflict of interest".
As a result of the findings, Warner may be suspended from FIFA at a meeting on March 16-17.
FIFA said Warner had "brought the matter to the committee's attention" and its executive will study the issue at its mid-March meeting.
Ralph on target
NEW YORK CITY, New York (CMC):
The Jamaica international Damani Ralph is in the final 20 strikes in contention for US Major League Soccer's Goal of the Decade award.
Ralph's brilliant goal for the Chicago Fire in August 2003 against Columbus Crew is among the remaining goals being voted on for Goal of the Decade.
More than 5,000 goals have been scored in the 10-year history of MLS, and one will be announced winner of the title, Sierra Mist Goal of the Decade on March 7.
Currently the second of four rounds of voting - by fans - is in progress and will conclude on February 20.
Ralph, who now plays for FC Rubin Kazan in Russia, gets his nomination for a ferocious left-footed shot from 16 yards for Chicago against Columbus Crew three seasons ago. He collected a firm cross from the right - with his back to goal - and controlled efficiently with a first-touch that set up a rapid shot on the turn that rocketed into the roof of the net.
